Title Troubles and a Cover Reveal

Hey Everyone,

Boy, has it been awhile since I’ve updated the blog. My apologies. I’ve been lost, lost, lost in the writing cave and having a blast in Alfhemir with a war master and a norn who’s kinda taken over my story. But that’s a tale for another time.

On the writing front, I’ve got a cover reveal and a call for help. First things first though. Here’s the artwork for book 5 in the Court of Bones and Ash series, Fae King’s Claim.

Gorgeous, isn’t it? Part of Gauron’s story takes place in a rainforest-y place. I love the colors the designer chose to simulate the setting. And, let me tell you, it’s so hard to find stock photography of handsome, muscular men that can pass for orcs, without beards. LOL. Hence the facial hair. But hey, at least this time the red locks hide the fact he lacks pointy ears.

See… I listen. šŸ˜‰

Help me choose my next title

If you’ve followed me for any length of time, then you’ve probably guessed that I’m helpless with titles. I really am. Currently, I’m debating between two titles for book 7. So if you’ve got a minute, please vote for the one you like best. My designer is set to start work on the final two covers in this series, and I can’t wait to share those with you, along with the results of the poll next month!

That’s it for me. I hope this update finds you well. It’s so hard to believe December is right around the corner, but like you, I’m anxious to put 2020 behind us. It’s been a rough year on so many fronts. Fingers crossed 2021 brings us much needed health, happiness, and love.

Until next time. Stay safe!

Woohoo! It’s LIVE everyone!

Fae King’s Vengeance is available for download at Amazon. You can grab your copy here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08C9RN21S

This book was a bit bittersweet to write. I’m sad to come to the end of Rogar and Kyra’s story. I hope you love this installment as much as the others.

As for what’s next? I’m hard at work on Gauron’s story. His book will take us in some interesting, new directions. Can’t wait for you all to meet some of the characters introduced in his book, as well as reconnect with some old. šŸ˜‰

Take care everyone and stay safe!

Cover Reveal – Fae King’s Vengeance

Hey Everyone,

I’m so happy to share the final cover in Rogar and Kyra’s story – Fae King’s Vengeance.

Stay tuned for release info, but like the other installments, I’m hoping for an end of the month release.

And although this fourth book will close out the romance arc for Kyra and Rogar, there’s plenty afoot in Alfhemir. As a matter of fact, one Fae King in particular is being very noisy about having his story told.

Please send shush vibes so I can focus on this book and not the sexy voice in my ear. šŸ˜‰

Take care and talk to you all soon!

Layla

Book 3 is LIVE!

Hey Everyone,

Fae King’s Sacrifice is live on Amazon, and at record speed, I might add.

Grab your copy HERE.

Hope you enjoy this installment as much as the last two. This episode was so much fun to write and had me tearing up in spots. I love these characters and am so sad to near the completion of Kyra and Rogar’s story.

But not to fear, I have more books planned in this series. I’ll be sending out a survey once book four is out to see what you thought of the format, but I’ll tell you more about that down the road.

Oh, and I’ll have a cover reveal soon… Book four’s cover art is… SQUEE!!!!

Until then, enjoy the ride.

And as always, thank you, thank you, thank you for your support. I couldn’t do this without YOU!

Take care and stay well,

Layla

Fae King’s Sacrifice

I can’t believe I forgot to post my cover for book 3.

So sorry guys. I’ve been lost in Alfhemir wielding my pen against all the betrayal and subterfuge currently happening over there, so without further ado, here it is.

Hotter than the desert sands of Argomar, no?

The book is currently in editing, so it shouldn’t be much longer. Things are heating up for the finale, and I can’t wait to see what you all think.

Oh, and I’ve had a sneak peek of the proposed artwork for book 4, and it’s stunning. Will share soon!

Hope you are all doing well and staying healthy!

Take care,

Layla

Fae King’s Temptation is LIVE!

The book is live, and oh my goodness, I’m nervous as all heck.

This doesn’t get easier, no matter how many times I do it. I hope you all enjoy this story. I’ll be on pin and needles with everything crossed hoping you do.

The second book, Fae King’s Hunger, has been edited. I’m waiting for the final round before moving the pre-order date to April 26th. This gives me time to read, and reread, and reread for errors. There are always a few vermin who make it through to the final copy. Rest assured, I’ll fix those too, so please don’t hesitate to reach out to me at layla@laylaharper.com if you spot any errors in any of my books.

Take care everyone!

Cover Reveal – Fae King’s Hunger

Hey Everyone,

I am so excited to share the second cover in the Court of Bones and Ash series, Fae King’s Hunger.

Can you hear me squealing over the internet? Isn’t it gorgeous? I am so unbelievably lucky to work with such talented professionals!

And because I’m a total flake, I have to share my pre-order worries with you. I had this enlightening moment earlier today where I saw a corollary between my pre-order scheduling and Christmas dinner.

You’re scratching your head, aren’t you? Hold on. It’ll make sense in a minute.

Or maybe not…

My family and I host Christmas dinner every year. Big spread. Lots of dishes. Lots of moving parts. Lots of mouths to feed. After twenty years, I still stress over timing the completion of every dish. I want to serve everything together while it’s still warm and yummy.

And you guessed it. Every year, I screw up the schedule. Sometimes by a little. Sometimes by a lot. Last year? Well, let’s just say it set its own record.

Oops. Thank god for wine.

And tequila.

And that Portuguese liquor that goes down waaaay too smooth.

My editing/writing schedule mirrors my stress in the kitchen which leads to a bit of anxiety, which leads to me overestimating rather than underestimating, which means I’m terrified of pre-order dates.

I’m planning to release Fae King’s Hunger on April 26th, which is one month after Fae King’s Temptation. But I’ll probably set the pre-order with a much later date until I have the final proofed version uploaded, at which time I’ll move the date back to April. Possibly sooner. We’ll see. I just worry about all the things that could go wrong, and the last thing I want to do, is endanger my pre-order privileges.

Oh, and let’s pray to the cover gods that the artwork for books 3 & 4 goes smoothly because I’m in the calendar for April/May, unless there’s an earlier opening. *Cue gnawing of the nails.* But they are soooo worth the wait.

Lastly, I want you all to know how much I’m enjoying writing in this world. I really hope you all love these characters as much as I do.

Pre-order for Fae King’s Hunger will be live soon.

Until then, peace and love, peeps!

FAE KING’S TEMPTATION

Hey Everyone!

Fae King’s Temptation is on pre-order!!!

I’ve sat on this book for months. I know, crazy, right? But here it is. I’m so excited to have you read it. Not that you’d be able to divine that little tid-bit by the gnawed state of my nails. It seems those crazy author nerves don’t get any easier the more books I write.

You’ll be happy to know the second book in the series, Fae King’s Hunger, will launch very close to the first. I’m currently working feverishly on the manuscript’s completion as I write this blog post. I’ll have the final pre-order information posted to my web page once I’ve received the book back from my editor.

And guys, the cover for this book is absolutely GORGEOUS!!!

In the meantime, here’s an excerpt from Fae King’s Temptation to tide you over.

(Excerpt from Fae King’s Temptation by Layla Harper Ā©2019)

I rip the covering from my head to find I’m surrounded by tall trees. A bitter breeze sets my teeth chattering anew.

Not wasting any time, I spring to my feet and take off through the trees before my attackers realize their error. My gaze flings from side to side. No concrete paths. No brick buildings. No pond. No Doras Ring. Just miles and miles of forest.

How long was I out? And where the hell am I that it’s so freaking cold?

I hear noises up ahead. I can’t distinguish if they’re animal sounds or bad guy grunts, so I forge ahead, pumping my arms and pushing my legs as fast as they’ll go.

Fear is starting to do bad things to my insides. I can’t hyperventilate. I can’t. Not now. Not until I’m somewhere safe. A place where I can stop and make sense of this craziness without losing my mind.

Something crashes against my back.

I stumble, flailing my arms in the air in a futile attempt to catch my balance. I hit the ground hard, landing on my left shoulder with a loud ā€œoomph.ā€ Groaning, I quickly roll onto my hands and knees and freeze.

Three men circle me.

Wait, are those masks?

Because if those aren’t masks over their heads, then three humanoid-looking men are staring at me through yellow eyes like I’m a dinner buffet on legs.
